David Liban has worked in the television and film business since 1987.  He has produced and directed numerous independent productions that vary in style from fiction to documentary and live-to-tape television studio production. He is a Professor of Post-Production at the University of Colorado at Denver, College of Arts & Media since Fall 2004.

 

Liban’s films and videos have received numerous awards from both national and international film festivals. His latest two films are called "Geocache" & The Ghosts of Elitch Theatre. - Look for them on your local PBS station.

His previous film, Carhenge: Genius or Junk? was aired nationally on PBS and was nominated for an Emmy Award. Another film, "Smithee's Lecture" screened at the NY Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Using the material from "Smithee's Lecture" he created an educational resource for instructors teaching video editing. It is being marketed and distributed through First Light Publishers.

In 2002 Liban received a Fulbright Distinguished Chairs Award which enabled him to travel to Porto, Portugal where he taught television production.
